About Us

Our Philosophy

We believe that children learn through play. Children who experience in quality play experiences are more likely to have well-developed memory skills, language development, and are able to regulate their behaviour, leading to enchanted school adjustment and academic learning (Bodrova & Leong, 2005)

We believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.

We will help children to meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.

We believe in developing a high quality learning environment that encourages children’s engagement, curiosity, problem solving, independent exploration and appropriate risk taking.

We believe that a balance of child-centered and adult initiated approaches to teaching and learning will lead towards increasingly complex forms of knowledge and understanding in the cognitive and social domains.

We endeavour to create a learning environment that respects diversity and foster children’s positive self-concept and attitudes, creating inclusive communities. We strive to support children’s’ sense of mana whenua (belonging) here.

We acknowledge and value our Pacific culture, language and identity. We provide a culturally responsive environment that respects and reflects Pacific ethnicities.

We acknowledge and respect the cultural heritages of both partners to the Treaty of Waitangi by promoting Te reo Maori and tikanga Maori in our everyday programme.

We believe that it is significant to work in partnership with parents/whanau and children, in order to build stronger communities and the nation. We value and respect the unique knowledge and contributions of whanau in the decision making process around their child’s care and education.

We are committed to developing respectful relationships, valuing open communication and promoting inclusive practice.

We are committed to ongoing professional development, ensuring we offer a high quality programme
